I’ve been looking for the perfect laptop for ages. I’ve been through 4 in the last 5 years, and have always looked for the perfect combination of battery life, power and portability, with a little bit of looks as well. With the advent of the netbook a few years back, the almost perfect laptop was within reach, but the big downside was the power. The puny atom processors combined with standard 1Gb RAM and weak graphics meant they were only good for light emailing and web browsing. Also the screen and keyboard combo, even on the 10″ netbooks was just slightly too small for comfortable use of any period longer than an hour.

I do still use my Dell D430, which has a 12 inch screen and half decent processor (my review here: http://www.ciao.co.uk/Dell_Latitude_D430__Review_5776393) but these days the battery life is down to 1 hr 30 tops with normal usage. Just not enough!

So I was very excited to hear about the release of the Acer Aspire 1810TZ, which has an 11.6″ screen, 3Gb RAM,  250Gb harddrive and, wait for it, a Pentium dual core processor! And with the quoted battery life being a huge 8 hours, and a price of around £450, this is one laptop I intend to get soon, and ditch the rest!
